Karo Sambhav is pleased to announce a new partnership with Development Alternatives, joined by Haqdarshak and ReUpyog as collection and upcycling partners. Launched under the name Karobar-E-Repair, the collaboration builds upon a five-year Memorandum of Understanding signed with Development Alternatives in November 2025, and this announcement marks the commencement of active work under that agreement.
India is the third largest generator of e-waste (Global E-waste Monitor 2024), and a majority of this e-waste is processed informally, using crude, unscientific methods. This may be attributed to two persistent gaps. The first concerns collection: for most households, access to formal collection channels remains limited due to lack of grassroot collection infrastructure. The second concerns repair: a significant proportion of discarded electronics remain functional, or could be restored to functionality with minimal intervention, yet the shortage of trained professionals and accessible service points limits repair as a viable alternative to disposal.
Karobar-E-Repair has been structured to address both gaps. Through the collection network, the objective is to establish the formal route as the more accessible choice for households. Through the repair initiative, the objective is to build a network of trained local repair entrepreneurs capable of extending the operational life of electronic devices, thereby deferring the need for recycling while generating livelihood opportunities.
This announcement marks an early stage in alonger-term collaboration, with further developments to be shared in due course.
